Women, Peace and Security: A Chance for Georgia’s and Ukraine’s Protracted Conflicts? #womenps
December 17, 2018 | 18.30-20.30
Berliner Landeszentrale für politische Bildung
Since August 2018, Polis180, Ideas for Change (Kyiv) and IDP Women Association „Consent“ are implementing the project „Women, Peace and Security: A Chance for Georgia’s and Ukraine’s Protracted Conflicts?“. The project examines different aspects of the UN Agenda 1325 on Women, Peace and Security in Georgia and Ukraine, such as women’s participation in issues of peace & conflict as negotiators, mediators and combatants; protection of women in conflicts, i.a. from gender-based violence; prevention of violence; and gender-sensitive analysis of relief and recovery measures, such as targeted programs for internally displaced women.
After our workshops in Kyiv and Tbilisi we are now inviting you to a public event in Berlin. At the event we would like to discuss with you our project report and the results of the workshops. Our speakers are
- Heidi Meinzolt, Europe Regional Representative of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom | Coordinator of the Working Group on Women and Gender Realities in the OSCE Region (keynote)
- Julia Kharashvili, Chairperson, IDP Women Association „Consent“ | Member of the High Level Advisory Group 1325 (Tbilisi)
- Olena Zakharova, President, Ideas for Change (Kyiv)
After the keynote speech we’ll move on to discuss at three thematic tables the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Georgia and Ukraine as well as ideas for developing the Agenda further.
We’re excited to discuss #womenps with you in Berlin! After the event you’re invited to Georgian finger food provided by Restaurant Madloba.
