Wir freuen uns, euch zur zweiten Ausgabe unserer Veranstaltungsreihe zum Thema „Framing, Facilitating, and Financing the EU’s Green Transition“ einzuladen, in deren Rahmen wir Dr. Patricia Wruuck vom “Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz” (BMWK) begrüßen dürfen!

Bei den weltweiten Bemühungen um den Übergang zu einer emissionsarmen Wirtschaft spielen Anreize und Maßnahmen zur Stärkung nachhaltiger Finanzierung sowie Investitionen in Klimaschutz eine entscheidende Rolle. Die Europäische Union und ihre Mitgliedsstaaten wollen hierbei eine Vorreiterrolle einnehmen. Das Konzept der Sustainable Finance ist dementsprechend nicht nur ein wichtiger Baustein, um ökologische und soziale Herausforderungen in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft zu bewältigen. Vielmehr werden Investoren durch eine nachhaltigkeitsorientierte Strategie dazu angeleitet, ihr Kapital auf eine Weise einzusetzen, die positive Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt und die Gesellschaft hat und gleichzeitig gute Renditen erzielt.

Dr. Patricia Wruuck – seit Oktober 2022 in der Europaabteilung des BMWK tätig – wird uns vor diesem Hintergrund ein konzeptionelles und Empirie-orientiertes Verständnis zu Fortschritten im Bereich sustainable finance geben. Hierbei stehen klimaschutzrelevante Investitionen, insbesondere von Unternehmen, im Mittelpunkt sowie die Frage, wie diese auf europäischer Ebene angereizt und unterstützt werden können.

Vor ihrer Tätigkeit im BMWK war Dr. Wruuck u.a. bei Deutsche Bank Research und Google sowie als Ökonomin in der volkswirtschaftlichen Forschungsabteilung bei der Europäischen Investitionsbank tätig. Dort hat sie regelmäßig am Jahresbericht der EIB, dem “EIB Investment Report” mitgewirkt sowie insbesondere zu Regionalwissenschaftlichen Fragen und Investitionen in Skills geforscht.

We are delighted to invite you to the second edition of our event series on „Framing, Facilitating, and Financing the EU’s Green Transition„, where this time around we will be welcoming Dr. Patricia Wruuck from the „Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action“ (BMWK)!

In the global efforts to transition to a low-carbon economy, incentives and measures to strengthen sustainable financing and investments in climate protection play a crucial role. The European Union and its member states want to play a pioneering role in this regard. Accordingly, the concept of sustainable finance is not only an important building block for addressing environmental and social challenges in the economy and society. Rather, a sustainability-oriented strategy guides investors to deploy their capital in a way that has a positive impact on the environment and society while generating good returns.

With this in mind, Dr. Patricia Wruuck – who joined the Europe Department of the BMWK in October 2022 – will give us a conceptual and empirical understanding of advances in sustainable finance. Here, the focus will be on climate-related investments, especially by companies, and how these can be stimulated and supported at the European level.

Before joining the BMWK, Dr. Wruuck worked for Deutsche Bank Research and Google, among others, and as an economist in the economic research department at the European Investment Bank. There she regularly contributed to the EIB’s annual report, the „EIB Investment Report“, and conducted research in particular on regional science issues and investment in skills.
