Polis Teatime Is there a Future for the Iran Nuclear Deal?
with
David Albright, Founder and President of the non-profit Institute for Science and International Security
We will have the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Albright for a conversation about the implications of the United States withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The future of the agreement (more commonly known as the Iran Deal) is more uncertain than ever: The Trump-Administration has reimposed sanctions suspended as part of the deal and requests that allies cease their economic ties to Iran; meanwhile the compliance issues at the core of the recent dispute have not been resolved. We want to discuss what Germany, the European Union and the other remaining partners can do to secure the benefits of the agreement while also challenging its flaws.
Mr. Albright is a physicist by training and the Founder and President of the non-profit Institute for Science and International Security in Washington, D.C. His area of expertise are secret nuclear programs throughout the world. He is author of Peddling Peril: How the Secret Nuclear Trade Arms America’s Enemies and co-author of Plutonium and Highly Enriched Uranium 1996: World Inventories, Capabilities and Policies as well as co-editor and contributor to Solving the North Korean Nuclear Puzzle. He regularly publishes in various technical and policy journals such as the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, Scientific American, Science and Global Security and Washington Quarterly. Additionally, he has testified numerous times on nuclear issues before the U.S. Congress.
