Women & Trade – Empowerment through Inclusiveness

Diplomacy for Sustainability Week 2021

Join us on the 21 September for the Polis180 discussion with the Embassies of Canada, Chile and New Zealand as part of the Diplomacy for Sustainability (DfS) Week 2021. The DfS Week is a chance for the German Foreign Office and the embassies in Berlin to present their work on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Putting women and girls at the centre of economies will fundamentally drive better and more
sustainable development outcomes for all. That is why Canada, Chile and New Zealand –
the founding members of the Inclusive Trade Action Group (ITAG) – launched the Global Trade and Gender Arrangement (GTAGA) in 2020. The GTAGA is an innovative and
comprehensive initiative aimed at increasing women’s participation in trade as part of
broader efforts to improve gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.

In cooperation with the Embassies of Canada, Chile and New Zealand, we want to highlight the necessity of promoting women’s participation, gender
equality and empowerment in and through trade. We will deepen our perspectives
on this issue, by highlighting intersectional economic perspectives on women in trade,
specifically including voices from Indigenous communities.

Register now to join our discussion with:

Alison Hamilton
New Zealand’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organisation, New Zealand

Fernanda Vicente
Executive President and Co-Founder of Mujeres del Pacífico

Dawn Madahbee Leach
Vice Chair of the National Indigenous Economic Development Board, Canada

Please register below to receive the Zoom-details. If you have any further questions, please write to Leonie Hopgood.

This event is a cooperation between Polis180 and the Embassies of Canada, Chile and New Zealand.
