12 October | Global Diplomacy Lab Web Seminar – New Actors of Digital Diplomacy: how is IT changing the dialogue between state and non-state actors
Dear Friends and Diplomacy-Enthusiasts,
Digitalization has become increasingly important within the domain of diplomacy. While it has enabled a more intense and multi-layered dialogue between state and non-state actors, it has also revealed the complexities inherent to the relationship between nation states, private sector, civil society organizations, and individuals.
In this context, it is with great enthusiasm that we invite you to participate in the web seminar
“New Actors of Digital Diplomacy: how is IT changing the dialogue between state and non-state actors”
October 12, 2016
03.30pm – 07.00pm
BMW Stiftung Herbert Quandt
Reinhardtstraße 58, 10117 Berlin
organized in partnership with the Global Diplomacy Lab (GDL) and the Université du Québec à Montréal.
The web seminar will start with a keynote by Tom Fletcher, former British Ambassador to Lebanon and author of “Naked Diplomacy – Power and Statecraft in the Digital Age” followed by a Q&A session. Subsequently, we will have a group work session whose aim is to develop a scenario in which diplomacy, through the use of information technologies, evolves into an interconnected environment where state and non-state actors horizontally dialogue with and among each other.
The number of participants is limited, so if you would like to join the web seminar, please send an e-mail to Christoph Abels (christoph.abels@polis180.org).
We hope you are able to join us for these discussions and we look forward to hearing from you.
