Fall Academy 2025

“War and Peace across the Taiwan Strait”

Would you like to dive deeper into the dynamics between China and Taiwan?
Are you interested in meeting exciting speakers and expanding your network?
Are you between 18 and 35 years old?
Then the Fall Academy is just right for you!

The second edition of our Fall Academy, held in English, will focus on one of today’s most pressing geopolitical hotspots – the Taiwan conflict. Under the title „War and Peace Across the Taiwan Strait“ the Academy will bring together 30 young people in Berlin from October 10 to 12, 2025, to analyze the political, economic, and security-related dynamics between China and Taiwan.

The three-day event, organized by the connectingAsia program and supported by the Landeszentrale für Politische Bildung Berlin, combines panels, workshops, and moderated discussions. Its aim is to foster a deeper understanding of both historical and current aspects of the China-Taiwan relationship – from security scenarios and economic interdependencies to potential courses of action for Europe.

Three working groups – on strategic considerations, economic dimensions, and Europe’s role – will develop concrete policy recommendations both in advance and during the Academy. These will later be published in a joint publication.

Participants will not only have the opportunity to expand their knowledge about China-Taiwan relations and their historical background, but also to strengthen academic and journalistic skills – especially in regard to publishing expert articles.

Experts from academia, think tanks, and politics will be present – alongside young individuals eager to shape the dialogue around peace and stability in East Asia.
