Eine Flugverbotszone wird immer wieder als Möglichkeit für den Westen ins Spiel gebracht, um auf den russischen Krieg in der Ukraine zu reagieren. Sie wird als (innen)politische Lösung benutzt, um auf innerstaatlichen Druck zu reagieren. Doch anders als im Irakkrieg oder in Libyen 2011 wäre eine Flugverbotszone durch Drittstaaten in der Ukraine folgenschwerer.
