PRESIDENTS & BOARD

The board of Polis180 is elected by the general assembly for a period of one year. The last general meeting took place on July 4, 2020. The new board was elected there.
It is composed of two presidents, a treasurer and up to twelve other members. The executive board conducts business in accordance with the articles of association and the resolutions of the general assembly. It takes its decisions with a simple majority.

ELMAR STRACKE
Legal Affairs & HR
Elmar is the co-president of Polis and is responsible for human resources and legal affairs. In this role, he wants to keep the members, volunteers and full-time employees of Polis free from legal and administrative questions, processes and challenges. It is important to him that Polis is at the same time an exciting platform designed by the members, an attractive employer and a responsible association – and that personal exchange between the members is not neglected. Otherwise, he does his doctorate in philosophy at the University of Bayreuth on the subject of pension systems.

ANTON KLEIHUES
Finances
As CFO, Anton is responsible for overseeing Polis’ financial resources and accounting. His goal is to increase transparency and involve several auditors in the tasks related to finance. Anton studied European Studies and Public Policy in Maastricht and at the Hertie School in Berlin and works for the in-house consultants for the public sector, PD, in Berlin. He likes to play hockey and is always interested in new people and ideas.

RICARDA LINDAU
Program Coordination
Ricarda is responsible for program coordination on the extended board. She wants to network the different focal points and thereby support the work of the many volunteers at Polis. So far, Ricarda has been active at Polis, particularly in the program Perspective Eastt. She studied international relations with a focus on Eastern Europe in Krakow, Berlin and Tartu. In this region she is always on the go for projects and private trips.

SARAH BREMM
Knowledge Management
Sarah looks after the individual program areas in collaboration with Ricarda and is responsible for knowledge management at Polis. Its goal is to make it as easy as possible for members to start and work at Polis and to ensure that the concentrated knowledge of Polis180 is documented and easily accessible to everyone. In terms of content, Sarah is active in the Climate and Energy program at Polis. Sarah studied political science at the University of Trier and Georgetown University, Washington DC, and is now completing a master’s degree in industrial engineering with a focus on energy and resource efficiency after several years of project management experience.

JAN OSENBERG
Fundraising & Outreach
Jan supports fundraising together with Frauke and Felix and works out strategies with Frauke and Paul to increase the reach of Polis180. He has been a member since 2018 and has previously been active in the European Identity and Environmental and Climate Policy programs. He was part of the campaign team for the 2019 European election campaign. In addition to his involvement with Polis, he heads the “European HouseParliaments” project at Pulse of Europe.

ROBERT FISHER
Community
Robert is responsible for community management on the extended board. He also supports the podcast department that he created. At Polis180 he has been active in the The America (n) s program area since 2017, focusing on trade policy, and is also part of the economic shock podcast team. As part of his master’s degree at the JFK Institute for North American Studies at the Free University of Berlin, he mainly deals with populism and the crisis of liberal democracy.

LUKAS HOCHSCHEIDT
Podcasts & Multimedia
Lukas is responsible for the management of the Polis podcasts and other multimedia projects. His aim is to support the members in all editorial and technical questions and to provide them with know-how and equipment for innovative formats. Lukas also behind the microphone and has been leading the European policy podcast “Brüsseler Bahnhof” since 2019. In addition, he supports Elmar in questions of law and personnel. Lukas is currently studying European Affairs in Paris and works as a research assistant for a trade union umbrella organization.

LAURA MENZEL
International Network OpenTTN
Laura is responsible for the international network on the board. For Polis, she would like to expand cooperation with our European partner think tanks and initiate new joint projects. In addition to the board work, Laura works as a research assistant in the German Bundestag on foreign and development policy issues. She studied political science at the Free University of Berlin and the American University of Beirut in Lebanon and has been a member of Polis since the end of 2017.

LUISA KERN
Blog
Luisa is responsible for the blog on the board and is looking forward to exciting contributions and discussions. She hopes that this will support the exchange of ideas in the Polis community. She also supports the podcast area, because this format is very important to her. She has been leading the European policy podcast “Brüsseler Bahnhof” since 2019. Luisa studied political science in Tübingen, Nancy and Berlin and works for a think tank.

LYDIA WACHS
International Network OpenTTN
Lydia is responsible for the international network and the regional groups. The international network has been with them since the last board period and is committed to further strengthening cooperation with the European partner think tanks and institutionalizing them through the OpenTTN. Lydia works as a research assistant in arms control at the SWP. Previously, she had a Masters in Security Policy from King’s College London and worked at the London think tank RUSI.

PAUL SALISCH
Outreach
Paul is responsible for the outreach on the board. He has been with Polis since 2017, initially as a co-author of Polis Paper # 5 on further integration steps in European defense policy, then as a community manager during the campaign for the 2017 federal election and then as co-program area manager for European security and defense policy. After studying in Maastricht and Berlin, he works full-time at the Ministry of Defense.

FELIX BENDER
Regional Groups
Felix is responsible for the regional groups and supports the CFO. He has been with Polis180 since 2017 and is mainly involved in the focus on global issues. He strengthens the regional network and the association from Passau and above all wants to promote a regionally diverse membership base. Felix is particularly enthusiastic about international and European foreign and security policy and is currently completing his studies in political science and European studies. In addition, he works for the German Society for the United Nations and moves a lot in the foundation sector.

FRAUKE SEEBASS
Donations
Frauke has been on the board since December 2018 and has already been responsible for the community and publications. In the fundraising department, she wants to rethink donation acquisition and sustainable financing. Frauke is primarily active in the Perspektikve East program and has been leading the Polis project # GEOYOUTH2020 together with Anna Kiknadze since March 2020. Frauke studied peace and conflict research, linguistics and communication and works for the Berlin media NGO n-ost. In her private and professional life, she travels as often as possible in Southeast Europe and the Caucasus.
